Definition

What is KYC (Know Your Customer)?

KYC is the process of verifying a customer's identity before and during a business relationship: collecting an ID document, checking that it is genuine and belongs to the person, and screening the name against sanctions and PEP lists. Under the FATF standards, crypto exchanges and other virtual asset service providers apply the same customer due-diligence rules as banks, so KYC is a core part of anti-money-laundering (AML) compliance.

Overview

Identity verification (KYC) that plugs into your product

Exchanges, wallets and fintechs usually need to prove who a person is before an account goes live. Arya Crypto KYC connects to that flow: you create a business with a callback URL, issue a one-time verification link via API, the user submits an ID in the public web app, and the final result comes back to you on a signed webhook. Tokens are charged only when the request reaches a final state — not when the link is created.

Key advantages

  • Separate business with an 8-digit code and a dedicated callback
  • One-time verification link, 30-minute window; the user never creates an account
  • Name extraction plus OFAC, UN, EU, UK, Canada, crime and PEP screening
  • JSON webhook with a signing secret and an archive-ready PDF report
What we actually cover

What KYC covers in the product today

Only capabilities that actually ship — no extras we do not provide.

Document verification

The user uploads a passport, national ID or driver licence in the public verification app. Image quality and readability are checked so unusable files do not enter the case.

Sanctions, crime and PEP screening

After the name is extracted, the person is screened against sanctions, crime and fraud lists and politically exposed persons. Match confidence is stored as a risk score.

Accept, manual review or reject

A strong sanctions or crime match is usually rejected. A PEP match usually goes to your review queue so your compliance team makes the final call.

Signed webhook to your stack

When a request completes, is cancelled or expires, a JSON result is sent to your webhook. If a signing secret is set, you can verify the message on your side.

Track and cancel in the panel

Inspect status, attempts and results in the panel. Cancel when needed — cancellation also deducts tokens, like a completed request.

Flow

How it works

  1. 1

    Create a business

In the KYC panel, register the business name and callback URL to receive an 8-digit business code.

  2. 2

    Issue a link

Create a request with your API key and send the verification link to the end user.

  3. 3

    Document submit

The user has 30 minutes to submit documents in the public web app.

  4. 4

    Result and webhook

The result appears in the panel and the webhook is delivered to your system.

FAQ

KYC FAQ

Do end users need an Arya Crypto account?

No. They open the verification link, submit the document, and they are done. An Arya Crypto account is not required for the end user.

Which documents are accepted?

Common IDs such as passport, national ID and driver license — readable and valid.

Do you offer face or video verification?

The current release focuses on document checks, declared-identity matching and watchlist screening; video calls are not included.

How long does it take?

After submit, automated processing runs. If the case needs review, it stays in review until you decide.

When are tokens charged?

Only when the request completes, is cancelled or expires. Creating the link does not spend tokens.

Is KYC mandatory for crypto exchanges?

In most jurisdictions, yes. The FATF standards require virtual asset service providers to identify and verify their customers, and national AML laws turn that into a legal obligation. The exact rules depend on where the business is licensed.
